Woodland Nomads & Little Woodland Explorers

Maria Montessori was a keen advocate of outdoor living, acknowledging the work of Baden Powell and the scouting movement whilst proposing and writing about an outdoor programme of education; she recommended an 'Erdkinder', or Earth school, where children would live close to nature, eat fresh farm products, foraged foods, and carry on practical work related to the economics of growing and supplying food, shelter and transportation. Forest school philosophy holds at its heart the belief that outdoor experiences will both inspire and encourage individuals of any age; allowing both children and adults to gain confidence and the ability to be at one with the natural world, whilst positively shaping their well being.

Little Woodland Explorers
following the success of our school based Woodland Nomads, we have created Little Woodland Explorers. This group is aimed for parents and carers of children under 5 and meets at Castle Gardens, Malton Wednesdays and Fridays between 10 and 12. The session is directed by a fully trained Forest School practitioner who is also a Montessori teacher.
